It was very easy to check in. The room was old, but very tidy and clean and had all the things I needed for my stay. The location can't be beat for the price. Very well soundproofed from the live performances downstairs, just the street outside is where the noise comes from which is typical for downtown Toronto. Comfortable bed and large enough space. I chose to have my own bathroom which was worth it.

top location in toronto’s entertainment district with lots of bars and restaurants. also very close (just a 20 minute walk to the cn tower) to the main sightseeing spots and just a few steps to the metro (osgode station). friendly and professional staff. smooth check-in/check-out, free bag storage. great jazz club downstairs. i had the double room with bathroom. everything was clean and just ok for 1 to 2 nights, small but all you need for a short stay. location and rooms are located in an older house, so don’t ecpect modernized rooms. and you can fall asleep with live jazz music. what a treat.

When I arrived at the Rex I was a little daunted. The entry lobby was minimal, the area looked a bit rough, the corridors a bit narrow and my room very small and very unlike the chain motel model. I need not have feared however - the room was actually very comfortable and had everything I needed, where I needed it (often not the case in more glamorous looking rooms), the staff in that tiny lobby could not have been more helpful, the corridors were quiet as was my room - and the music in the bar was wonderful. I didn't mind paying the cover fee to dine while the live music played - it was well worth it - but if you did there were plenty of other restaurants nearby. While I was there I was privileged to hear a guest saxophonist who has been playing with the Rolling Stones for over 26 years - an old friend of the establishment. I walked the area a bit and saw no problems - it just had lovely, interesting, inner city grungy vibe, which even at 75 I loved. I had a room with private bathroom.

Location. The Queen Street area has a very young, hip 5. There were a few homeless people around but not in abundance. I found the energy to be lively and fun. The live jazz at the hotel is excellent. I've been listening to it for the past hour. There is a 10 to $20 cover charge for the jazz club patrons. I noticed many people eating the food. Typical pub food with generous portions. I ask a few people if they were enjoying their meal. Five out of five individuals said the food was fantastic, beer is cold and atmosphere is wonderful

amazing location, great public transportation very close by, lots of shopping and food in walking distance, it was clean and cozy and great for the price. surprisingly not that loud above the jazz bar but I did stay on the very top floor. staff were nice and the room and amenities were just what a friend and I needed for 1 night after a concert. they let us check in a few hours early which was great as well. I would definitely stay here again and the friend I brought also told me she would as well, and I'd definitely recommend it to someone else.

Perhaps like staying in a museum replicating a 1920s hotel. The walls of the halls were filled with art and posters of bygone eras. Loved going along the hallways of the two lodging floors and stairwells. Rooms were tiny, but with comfortable beds and very clean & well-kept. The greatest treat was walking back from my conference at George Brown University and settling down in the bar to hear great music. Experience better than staying at any corporate chain hotel at many times the price. Location was walkable, bikeable, and filled with great restaurants. High-energy diverse area.

Very unique and cool place in the heart of Toronto. Very helpful and friendly staff. Rooms where very basic but clean. The whole house has an artistic spirit and the neighbourhood is nice with many small shops and restaurants. We walked everywhere, even not too far to walk from Unionstation. We travelled with our 3 year old who enjoyed the all ages jam session at the Rex as well as the extra folding matress and his glas of milk for breakfast. Breakfast (coffee and toast) was served in the club or on the terrace. It was also possible to store our luggage on our day of departure. Thank you Rex!

Location location location - it was perfect! We could go to main sightseeings by foot, that was very convenient, so we walked a lot and haven’t used public transport, just to/from airport 🙂 Another great advantage - super friendly and helpfull staff, when I was in crisis due to cancelled flight, receptionist was very kind and helped me a lot, I sincerely appreciate it. Also another nice thing - there’s a jazz/blues bar right below the hotel, so if you want to eat or listen to love music (concerts are daily) - that’s perfect to stay there 😉 Concerts didn’t last to late night, so even when we went to sleep early, didn’t hear any noise. Also it was a nice area around the hotel - cozy & fun bars, lots of various places to eat, metro station nearby.

It was a great location. It was clean. Good atmosphere out of the room. Good shower in the private bathroom. Convenient for main rail station. Whatever you read about what we didn't like, remember you get what you pay for. And it was inexpensive for the location. If breakfast not booked you can still have tea, coffee and toast. Hair dryer in room.
